At Kong Academy we focus on:

Our aim is to build and inspire young people to enhance their overall fitness, grow in confidence and fulfil their passions and dreams.

Curriculum

The curriculum has been carefully devised to ensure that the children are equipped with the knowledge and understanding of how to safely perform exercises and spot their peers. 

Within our curriculum we use a proven performance method down as French Contrast Training.

 

French Contrast Training is a strength and conditioning method designed to improve how quick the body can produce force- which is essential for sprinting jumping, tackling and changing direction in sports such as football and rugby.

This method combines:

  • A strength-based movement

  • Followed by an explosive movement

  • Then a lighter fast movement

  • Finished with an assisted jump or sprint

By pairing strength with speed in the same sequence we activate the nervous system first and then train it to move more powerfully straight after. ​

All exercises are adapted for age and development level to ensure they are safe for growth and joint health. 

At Kong Academy, we use this method to help young athletes become stronger, faster and more confident within their sport. 

This is one of the reasons why Kong Academy is one of the few young strength programs in Huddersfield applying structured contrast training safely for developing athletes.

Performance Pathway

Performance Pathway is a structured development programme designed to help young athletes build strength, speed, confidence and overall athletic ability so they can reach, or work towards elite level performance. This programme goes far beyond a standard session, it's a structured development program offering clear progress tracking, regular performance testing every 12 weeks, and personalised performance reports after each testing block. Athletes take part in age appropriate strength and conditioning sessions, receive nutrition guidance and performance education and benefit from professional coaching in a supportive environment.

Strength Lab 11-14 Years

Kong Juniors Group Fitness
7-11 Years

Kong Junior group sessions is a structured 12 week program that develop speed, agility, strength, power and endurance in a fun, supportive environment. Each block focuses on a key athletic are ad children are taught what that focus means- for example: learning what speed and agility are during the speed & agility block, or what strength and power mean during the strength & power block. Sessions are split into two parts: education about the theme of the block and practical in training to develop these skills. Children also learn basic equipment management and gain an early understanding of functional movement patterns

Sessions are on Fridays 4.30pm-5.15pm.

Specific Small Groups.

Our Specific Small Group sessions are ideal for children who have particular areas they’d like to improve — whether that’s speed, strength, coordination, confidence, or movement technique. Working in a small group allows for more individual attention than larger classes, with closer coaching, detailed feedback, and tailored progressions to suit each child’s needs. At the same time, the group environment keeps sessions motivating, enjoyable, and supportive. This focused approach helps children make strong progress while still benefiting from training alongside others.

Kong Academy Strength Lab sessions are designed to help young people get fitter and stronger and confident through safe, supervised barbell training and strength fundamentals. The program covers barbell basics- inlcluding squats, deadlifts, presses and pulls- with a focus on porper technique, while also building mobility, flexibility and posture, and injury prevention skills. Participants develop coordination, balance and solid strength foundation that supports sports performance and everyday life. The sessions also include fun fitness conditioning drills to boost confidence and athleticism. The strength lab emphasises learning how to move well, gaining confidence, and enjoying training in a supportive gym environment.

Sessions are on Thursdays. 4.30pm-5.30pm
